Welcome to The Zelda Project
The Zelda Project is a Los Angeles, CA based group of fans who seek to bring to life the characters, settings, and overall feel of Ocarina of Time through photography and film.
A labor of love, this project combines all aspects of art from costuming & photography to CGI visual effects. Our end goal is that we hope those of you who view our work are brought a little bit more into the world of Hyrule through our art.
Lon Lon Ranch & Fire Temple Update

Updates on Photoshoots:
The Lon Lon Ranch shoot is still in post. Juan, our matte painter, has been working very steadily on the photos, but he is a professional who works full time in the motion picture industry and so he is only able to work on our photos in his spare time. We are very grateful to have his talents on our team, and when he is finally finished with the photos, I guarantee that they will not disappoint you. It is unfortunate that we cannot dedicate more time to working on them, but we all appreciate everyone's patience with us while we work.
The Fire Temple shoot was completed at 50% in Valley of Fire State Park, NV this past weekend. We shot for roughly six hours. However, we were unable to get some of the shots we wanted from this location, so we will be completing the other 50% of the shoot at another location. This shoot will be renamed, at some point, to "Death Mountain" because Death Mountain encompasses Goron City and the Fire Temple, which we will be making as the theme.
Princess Zelda is right now on time to be shot on May 26th in Redland's CA, followed by the same weekend the second half of "Death Mountain" shoot. The costume is about 60% complete. Hopefully we will be able to complete it in time! Many factors must fall into place for it to be perfect, but I guarantee you that we are all working hard.
Announcements
I wanted to touch upon some questions that have been asked recently in regards to the project, and changes that have been made in the cast and crew.
- As some of you have asked, Anthony (Lune) has been recast. He is no longer able to dedicate his time to the project, and attend shoots, so he has been replaced with another actor/model and gamer, Wes Johnson. Wes is extremely enthusiastic and a blast to work with, and not to mention beautiful. I was blown away by his performance at the Death Mountain shoot, and I am certain that no one will be unhappy about the change!
- The Zelda Project is a two part project. There is a film portion of our project, and a photo portion. At the moment, we are still working on the photos. We will be releasing several more sets of themed photos before we move on to the film. We appreciate everyone's patience and support~!
- The fact that we are not currently shooting the film portion of the project does not, however, mean we aren't working on it. We have been steadily working on the script, as well as putting together the crew for the film (department heads are our main focus at the moment).
- A change has been made to the nature of what the film project will cover. Our original idea had been to do a trailer, and we had held to that idea even after IGN released their trailer, but we have come up with a number of better ideas that we believe you will like even more. More information on that will come later, once the script has been fleshed out, and we are closer to actually going into production for it.
- Now that our hiatus is over, we are currently once again accepting donations. We are in talks right now as to what sort of gift we will be giving to future donators, so if you have any suggestions as to what kind of gift you would like in return for your support of the project, please feel free to offer suggestions!
Lastly: I know I've said it before, but we wouldn't be here without the support of our fans. We are fans creating art for fans. We have a vision, and we are sharing it with you, for the love of Legend of Zelda. We are all working professionals, so this is not our job, but rather... our love! This is done in our spare time as a hobby. Your continued support and enthusiasm towards what we are doing is what drives us to be bigger and better every day. From the bottom of our hearts, we wanted to say that we love you all so much, and I personally cannot thank our fans enough for being so awesome!

Hey everyone! We thought we would update with some crew positions we are looking for. We are doing really well as far as help in the physical departments of Make-Up, Hair, Costume, and Prop, but we are in definite need of artists on the back end who can assist in the post editing and composite process. Please have a look at what we need and email us if you are interested in helping out! Cheers!
- An Environment Artist(s) who can model and texture realistic environment art based on a level from the game.
- An Environment Artist(s) who can model and texture realistic environment art based on zones from the game (medieval/fantasy house and stable, Hyrule Castle).
- A 3D Modeler to create creatures
- A texture artist(s) who is able to help out with textures here and there.
- A render artist who is able to effectively take the textured models and render them to match existing photos for photo compositing.
We are looking for people who can start immediately!

Happy Valentines Day everyone! Many cosplayers have difficulty making the costume of Princess Zelda, because of how expensive the armor can be, or how daunting and difficult it may seem. Recently, Joellen Elam (TZP Make-Up Artist as well as model for Princess Zelda) put together a tutorial online for an inexpensive solution for cosplayers wanting to make Princess Zelda's armor from Twilight Princess. You can download her patterns for a small fee, and then with minimal supplies from your local craft store, you can have beautiful shoulder pauldrons, a crown, and other accessories in no time--hand made by you! Have a look at the tutorial and get your crafty on! When you are finished, send in your pictures to us so that we can share the Zelda love!

Hi everyone! I haven't updated the site in a while but that's alright. Hopefully most of you are keeping up to date with our more frequent activity on Facebook and Twitter! We've been working slowly from coast to coast on some of the costumes that we had tried to shoot last year and things simply happened that held us back. The ears that we had made for Link originally worked out fine for the photoshoot that we did for the Lost Woods, but we wanted them to be at a different angle, so we are re-sculpting the ears and casting them again. Hopefully this time around we will get some pictures of the casting process so that we can update the how-to page so those of you can try out our methods for your own costume adventures! In the mean time, here is a fun WIP of the ears that our new prosthetics sculptor Pior Oberson is making. www.PiorOberson.com Have a look and check out the sculpts! At the point that we are at, we have decided to scrap the shoot that we did of the Fire Temple in 2011 and re-shoot it with all new photos with these new ears. More ears (Malon and Zelda) to come soon.

Starting up our engines!

Hi everyone. I have some updates that I'm sure you'll be very excited about. We've started to get Still Photo things in motion again. There is talk of a pick-up shoot of the Fire Temple, as well as Princess Zelda. For the Fire Temple all we need now is to organize ourselves some time during the week to go out to the desert and shoot, so I will keep you posted as to when that will be. Now, granted, it may be the same story over again about releasing the photos... because even still after all this time it's still a waiting game with artists. I would love to push my agenda for everyone so you can see these images I have in my head, but unfortunately artists are working for free and I cannot ask them to meet my deadlines. Now, we're also working on a new shoot in the meantime. We're dying to get you all something--anything. You've waited so long. Today began production for Princess Zelda. It's officially under way. Wish us luck. I'll keep you posted if anything comes up that slows us down.

Hey Everyone,
It's been a while since I've updated, but that doesn't mean I haven't been working on anything. I wanted to give everyone an update on what's been happening.
Honestly, I feel extremely disappointed that it's been over a year already since we released our first photos and the constant snags in the road for our photo shoots have kept us from releasing anything since then. This little project is a dream of mine and I'm a tenacious person that even when it seems that there's some greater force trying to tell me to quit, I refuse to. As most people knew already, Anthony (Link) was my boyfriend. Before we became a couple, we started working on this project together. He had agreed to be the model, because he always liked the idea of cosplaying, and we ended up falling for one another over the process of working on the project. Well, things don't always work out, and the relationship ultimately didn't. The stress of the project had a great deal to do with the ending of the relationship, I believe, but there were many other factors there too.

It's been a long time since I've updated the site. I apologize for that. Everyone has a personal life, and in the last few months, the foundations of mine got rocked out from under me. I'm in a period of transition in my life, but that does not mean that I have abandoned this project. There were a lot of rumors floating around the internet due to some impulsive things I said on my private facebook, but let me assure you... none of the negative is true. The positive thing, that we are working on the teaser trailer, is very true. At the moment, I am working with several artists to prepare a presentation to a large sponsor who may be the key to funding the teaser trailer. The way I see it in my mind, is very similar to the words Eiji Aonuma used in his recent interview with Nintendo Power. "Sweeping and Grand" Couldn't better describe what I had in mind. But in order to create that sort of look, money is needed. Thus, my hunt for a sponsor. Thankfully, I've found one such sponsor that may be the answer to all of our needs.
Currently, a team of 3 artists are working with me to prepare visuals from the Advent of Darkness trailer script for our presentation to this sponsor. I cannot mention the name, but I can assure you that if all goes well, we will be quite on our way. Please lend us your enthusiasm and support once again! We've appreciated all that we've had, and we have not forgotten the still photography. All good things come to those who wait, and to those who work hard. I have been plugging away steadily at this for over a year, and dreamed it for many years before starting it. Obstacles have constantly been thrown in my way, but I've hurdled over them, and now I feel it is time for the final hurdle.
If you had more time and an unlimited budget, what else would you do to try to celebrate Zelda’s 25th anniversary?
If what we’re really talking about is a sort of a “sky is the limit” approach to things, I always thought it would be really cool to have a real Zelda movie, something really grand and sweeping. But, of course, I have neither the time nor the wherewithal for all that, and even if I did have the money to make such a movie, I don’t know if it would turn out well. But there are those days when I fantasize about how cool it would be if something like that would happen sometime in the future.
Perhaps it won't be a fantasy forever!
